The scope included:

• Replacement of existing chillers with 4-pipe and 2-pipe air source heat pumps
• Integration of water source heat pumps
• Installation of new chilled and heating pipework infrastructure
• Energy-efficient lighting and lighting control systems
• Upgrades to the Building Management System (BMS) and energy management systems

The upgraded infrastructure was designed to enable removal of existing boilers and allow future reductions in heating flow temperatures, supporting improved long-term energy performance across the building.

Delivering both workplace and building services design in-house enabled streamlined coordination and clear decision-making throughout the process. 

Delivering in a Live Environment

All works were carried out within a live, multi-tenanted building which required careful planning and constant coordination. Through managed shutdowns and ongoing communication with tenants and the landlord, the infrastructure upgrades were delivered with minimal disruption.

Goldsworth Place now provides 35,000 sq ft of modern Cat A workspace supported by upgraded mechanical and electrical infrastructure aligned with the client’s decarbonisation strategy.

The completed scheme brings together workplace design, capital plant upgrades and sustainability objectives within a fully occupied commercial building.

A technically complex project, delivered with careful coordination and long-term performance in mind.

To facilitate Abbey Road Studios growth plans, we were appointed to undertake alteration and reconfiguration works to an existing office space, required to accommodate teams from elsewhere across the building.

As part of the scheme we provided new WCs, a kitchen and breakout area, meeting rooms and general office space all completed whilst remaining sympathetic to the age and style of the building. Pre-fabricated video call pods were installed to provide quiet working space within the new open plan arrangement.

Bespoke joinery including book shelves, storage cupboards and display cabinets along with glazed Crittal style partitioning, timber flooring and stylish decoration gave the space a modern feel whilst
maintaining its Victorian heritage.

The Solution

We used ProjectDIVERT, an innovative environmental services platform unique to Encore, to identify a nearby youth club, New Horizon Youth Club, who were in need of new furniture for their facilities. New Horizon Youth Club work tirelessly to provide a safe and stable place for young vulnerable people to live. With limited funding available, the charity have little resources towards refurbishments and gladly accepted the furniture as a donation from our client, Verity Interiors.

Working with a material pallet of which many items had not been specified for the purpose they were intended for was a challenging and exciting task for the team, however, once they were all in place, the building looked fantastic.

The project didn’t come without its challenges though; port restrictions, a fire causing a bespoke materials factory in Europe to close and the Omicron variant were just a few hurdles we needed to overcome. However, this didn’t dampen our spirits and the end result is a fantastic working environment for Argent’s staff – and something we are all extremely proud of at Verity.

The project team were extremely pleased to receive recognition for their hard work and commitment by being named an FX Awards Winner in the category ‘UK Workspace Environment any size’, for Related Argent Reimagined – 2022.

The underside of the mezzanine structure was clad in birch faced plywood, coated in a intumescent clear coating to comply with building control. Other joinery items included a bespoke reception desk and suspended timber feature rafts.

A platform lift was installed to ensure access was available to all users. 

Externally hard and soft landscaping was undertaken with colourful powder coated planters positioned to create quite areas for the office staff.
